R vs R+P

I almost never get those R vs R+P endgames. What's the secret?
That position's a basic Lucena position. You can google that for details, but basically from that position White first checks the king to force it to the b-file (after Rc4+, Kd6 would just allow white to queen immediately with Kd8, since there are no more checks).

White then "builds a bridge", as is often said of the Lucena position, by maneuvering his king so that he is threatening to queen and is shielded from checks by his own rook.

That link has a video showing the technique, as well as a board for you try your hand as the attacking side. :)
