About me

Hi everyone, it's Mario here.
I'm 60 y.o. italian guy, born and living in Milan.
I'm International Master and playing and coaching chess is how I make a living since 44 years.
There's a short Wikipedia page on me in three languages: Italian, Russian and Breton:
it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario_Lanzani

Playing experience

I won the Italian Championship Final in 1987 and made 3rd in 2000 and 2002.
Played in Juniors, Seniors and Team competitions for Italy on several occasions.
Played in National Team Championsips around Europe in Italy, France, Switzerland and Portugal.
I got I.M. title in 1999 after winning a closed tournament in Saint-Lô, France.

Teaching experience

I started coaching when I was 16 y.o. and kept it going.
Among other stuff, I coached Italy women's team in Dubai Olympiad 1986 and San Marino open team in Novi Sad Olympiad 1992.

Other experiences

I've been a chess commentator in a few Italian Team Championsips and, from time to time, I get hired to give commentary on top competitions like World Championships and so on.

Best skills

I really shouldn't say anything on this, but ok...
People often tell me that I'm good in getting a good feeling with students and sharing why I love chess so much.
People also think I'm an expert in endgames, I'm not sure if they are right, but as a fact I like endgames very much.

Teaching methodology

Whenever I can't work live I'm working online.
Telegram, Discord, Jitsi-Meet, Skype, whatever, are used.
I share my screen with Scid_vs_pc on top of it and we're good to go.
Programs and goals are decided toghether with students and are different for every single one.
