Feature request please.

Dear Lichess developers, you really need to let people disable this feature if they don't need it. Because it is really being used as a trolling/annoying purposes more than anything and I have encountered this probably more than ten times in my lichess experience.

The worst thing is that even top players here on lichess are doing it and abusing the feature. Here is just an example of this, done by FM JusticeBot against a very nice and kind GM. It is just really really rude and displeasing to even watch and a perfect way to scare away high profile players like GM Matej Šebenik who is fortunately a very tolerant person.

#11 I agree. I've only seen this feature used for harassing and taunting purposes. If I'm lost on position and have a few seconds left, they add a lot of time to force me to click resign button instead of just letting time run out. Then they taunt me in chat.

Sometimes I have stalled the game and let them wait time out without making any move. After that the same player hasn't repeated it but that also require you to stop playing.
@blackzombie, exactly.

It just doesn't make any sense to have such a feature which does not even exist in real chess readily available for ill-mannered people to abuse so easily.

I get that there could be benefits of the feature especially for practising purposes but other than that, we should be able to disable it. In fact, it should even be disabled by default because as I said earlier, it is not even a thing in real chess.
Adding time is a real thing on other chess servers. What's wrong with clicking the resign button?

Outright taunting violates the Terms of Service and should be reported.
Nope, it's as real as much as the takeback thing is. If we have the option to disable the takeback option, we should have the same freedom for the time adding.

"What's wrong with clicking the resign button?"

People abuse the feature when you're winning as well. Why would I resign when winning? Or why would I have to deal with reporting(it's not efficient for any party including moderators) every time this happens when I can not even have the problem in the first place with a simple disabling option.

You are ridiculous and Lichess should not indulge you
I'm really not sure how people can abuse the feature, honestly... it gives a very inconspicuous message (no sound, no flashing, just a tiny label in the chat window), and aside from that it does not disrupt the game in any possible way and does not require any user interaction from your part, as opposed to a takeback/draw request

"Forcing a resign instead of letting the time run out" it's not exactly an harassment behaviour, and you can stop that at any given time by... well... resigning, if you don't want to prolong the game anymore.

In every other instance, it has zero effect on the receiving side.

So, while i'm not opposed to have an option available to disable it, because why not, playing the "abuse" card to make a point looks a bit silly to me
^^ Did you watch this video I posted earlier? If that's not a harassment and if that's not disturbing, I don't know what it is. It's as bad as repetitive draw offers, as bad as repetitive takeback requests and as bad as ill words in the chat. I actually don't understand how people cannot see how disturbing this feature can be when it's abused.

#14 This isn't about clicking the resign button but the unpleasant feeling of someone sitting toying with you and taunting you.

I've done research on other chess-sites. I can't see it is possible on FIDE online Arena or chess.com.

In a general perspective of chess, clock settings is one of the game parameters that both players have agreed to before the game. It therefore seems weird that one of the players can change it during a game without the other players consent.
Why not also introduce the possibility to add more pieces to your opponent? :)
