Candidates Day Eleven: Hyper-Bullet, the Breakfast of Champions

Dislike this reply as much as possible I am doing an experiment for the (censored) organization. This is experiment number (censored) for a top-secret mission named (censored). Thank you for your time
OK not Nigel Short as I suggested earlier in the thread. He has recently resigned from FIDE.

I like the titles of these recap blogs, pretty funny. Nojoke also learnt how to spell Nepomniachtchi's name over time, so there's a sense of progression as well.
"the math just barely checks out for him to have gotten a perfectly reasonable amount of sleep anyway"

That doesn't take into account that one has to swap in 1 day from sleeping during the night to sleeping during the day.
I've done that many times and can tell you that it is impossible to sleep as well. It is very comparable to jetlag.

I have in the past played chess with little sleep before and it always influenced my calculation skills. I estimate you lose about 50-100 points playing-strength by not having slept properly.

Players are already permitted to have two accounts if the other one is used for prep. Alireza could totally justify an anonymous GM account and I'm almost certain Lichess would allow it.
I think GM Alireza playing bullet chess that night is not preparation but a way of letting of steam, to feel confident again. It is important to note that even how great we are in reality, if we can't believe in it for ourselves then won't really matter.

My take is the following happened: as the tournament below alirezas ambition he had chose his way to deal with it. Other players would be more rational or chose something which will never be known to the public (eg watch a TV series late night / early morning. When choosing to play online chess at this hour I think anyone is aware of the games being public , so you would not play a secret opening and be surprised the next day that there are public discussions about it.

The time of day is occasionally but rarely a topic of public discussions for top players. I can see that this disclosure is something you might not want to willingly reveal given the many public comments can lead to other candidates consider his a bad sportsman or even worse - future tournament invitation and his overall reputation would decline . He might simply regret this fact.

That’s what I wanted to point out:
- the last thing the great free transparent lichess site wants is people playing online have severe repercussions or consequences

You might say it’s within an adults responsibility to act accordingly - since lichess is not doing anything wrong

Or you might consider protecting this information as it might be a risk...

Maybe after this incident everyone is reminded and accidents are less likely to occur
