Chessbase 13 - is it worth it?

you can also use arena. it has perhaps not so many fancy database options, but you can also import all the stuff. especially if you only study some openings for example or want to review some games arena is completely sufficient.
to look up games and openings use chessgames.com which has by far the biggest free database on the internet
I wonder why everyone prefers ScidVsPC over Scid. It has much less features (The author just removed them).
I am referring to the 'rewritten' gamelist widget. The author removed live filtering of games (entering moves on the board makes the game list get filtered so that only the games with this moves are shown).

Also he removed all extended sorting possibilities ('not terribly useful').

He also removed one click entering of moves (clicking on the target square of the piece).

The 'many new features' are cosmetic fixes.

And all the improvements done to Scid since he forked it are also not in ScidVsPC.
