Hello

Hey. I have been trying to play better at chess, but still haven't really improved. My play is pretty inconsistent. Sometimes I lose a lot and sometimes I win a lot. I was wondering why this might be.
You probably aren't studying. If you just play games all the time you won't improve. I don't train anymore, I just play for fun and my rating has flattened out around 1750. If I studied it would go back up. Your rating would probably go up quickly if you'd take a few weeks off from playing online and read some chess books. I prefer studying from books rather than a computer. Computers make me want to hurry; to study you need to slow down and concentrate. Some recommendations are "The Ideas Behind the Chess Openings," by Reuben Fine; books with lots of tactics puzzles (1000 Brilliant Ways to Checkmate," by Fred Reinfeld, is one example); "Chess Endings for Dummies," by Yasser Seirawan; and a big book of games by a variety of chess masters (or maybe "Capablanca's Best Games of Chess"). They're all older books (I'm an older guy) but the information is solid. Spend some time studying the chess in books like those and your rating will go up, believe me.
You play too much bullet and blitz. If you want to improve, then you should play classical and rapid only.
Even if you play rapid, you play too fast. Here is an example.

I recommend switching on move confirmation in your profile. You play a move, you check it is no blunder, only then you confirm it.
how do i switch to move confirmation and also thx for the answers
