Hello, long story short I am an American now living in Barcelona and was hoping that someone living in the city (or someone that frequents the city) can introduce me to a club to play in so I can meet new people, learn more of the language, and, of course, improve my chess play! If someone could help me out that would be great and I can send you my info so we can meet up!
Thanks!
Catalonia has a long tradition of chess clubs. This summer we've had a circuit of international opens with hundreds of players in each event.
Just search for "Barcelona" here and I'm sure you will find at least (!!!) a couple of chess clubs in your neighbourhood.

If you have not gone to a chess club by then, we could go together.
... ajedrez ! :)

@Iverson: I'm living in El Carlmelo
@thibault: are you normally here on the weekends? town you live in?
@Dr-Zaitzev: You live in bcn?
El Carmel. That was a terrible district not long ago. I hope it got better.
In Gracia, not far from El Carmel, there is one of the historical Catalan clubs: La Unió Graciènca d'Escacs. I can't find a website, but these are their details:
