The point system

The lose or winn gives points, i sometimes feel its not feer, wath is the reason you get more or less when its 1750 or 1275? is that why people dont wanto play with low rancs, because its so costy to lose? sorry my english-
"is that why people dont wanto play with low rancs, because its so costy to lose?"

Not only that, but it doesn't provide me with a real challenge ...
And everybody has a different perception of where the low ranks begin.
Wath i we seen is that you gett 12 points, when winning or losing to somebody absolut equal to you, but som times there is a large winn or lose, is this because the player has so few games to be measured at? probably i think thats why.
"is this because the player has so few games to be measured at?"

I think so, yeah ...
> "is that why people dont wanto play with low rancs, because its so costy to lose?"

like #2 said, it is no challenge. The points, well perhaps for some people it will be, but not for me.

Same as if a 2250 Player would play me, its no challenge for him and only luck for me if i win.

And the secondthing. If you play a lot bullet or blitz your ratingspan overall can be more then 200 points with a lot of ups and a lot of downs, so one game does not count that much.

And third, if you play its normaly a bunch of fast games and not only one. So, if the glicko-2-System works after a series of games it should be (lets say) the one loss against 5 wins , the ratingswing should be 0 on both sides. Like the System predicts.
I se i play a game with a 1507 r me 1260 r ,he winn gets 50 points and me - 6 for losing,- thats because of,the nr of games we have played total is different?- interesting to know more about the system thanks for the anser joelH.
More important: if you play payers with elo 200 points below yourself you shouldn't win ANY point in case of victory. Because some people use this trick to reach >2700 elo by having hundreds of victory over players 600 elo below them!!
"Because some people use this trick to reach >2700 elo by having hundreds of victory over players 600 elo below them!!"

You just have to admire the dedication of these guys if not anything else!
I like the Elo system, whenever I get higher or lower than my real ability it swings me back to around 1530, and I don't learn from my mistakes so I tend to stay around there.
FYI, lichess.org uses the Glicko-2 rating system, not Elo.

Players get really emotional over their points when in reality, they should be taken as a general guideline to someone's ability and certainly not as gospel.
