Please can IM and GM prefixes on names be stopped

You can have a nick 'MagnusCarlsen' what kind of advantage this gives you?
titles are verified by the staff. There are no fake titles afaik. Titles are well separated from the rest of the nickname
I think the point he's trying to get at is that someone sees a dubious move, or a dubious looking move, and gets intimidated because a GM — or GM looking player — made it. There's a fear that people are letting titled players get away with bad moves because they're titled and there's fear it's part of some master plan, when, really, it's a crappy move.

Do I think this might be playing a part? Maybe. But, truth be told, if you're playing against pieces on the board and ignoring the title, at least in theory you'll make out better. Is it easy to do? That might be another matter.
IMHO it would be best to display a title of some sort next to every player name.

For examlpe, on shogi servers there are titles 30-kyu through 1-kyu and 1-dan through 9-dan.
@agrav123 you have to play the position, not the title. In any case, rating should be a good indicator for the strength of a person
#13 If claiming to be an IM or GM gives you a psychologically unfair advantage during a game. Don't the players that actually are marked as fair IMs and GMs get the same unfair psychological advatage. I don't get that argument at all.

With the yellow text and bold letters I think the real titled players distinguish themself well from the fake ones.

My only objection is that LMs shouldn't be marked in a way that pass them off as FIDE titled players and even selling chess services pretending to be masters. Some LMs, for example LM Chessinstinct actually appeared to be cheats.

I vote for another color for LM.
