Apparently profiles get tagged as cheaters, correct? Can the cheaters themselves see that they're tagged on their profile or is it only visible to other players? Just curious as I think this is a great feature. Other sites would implement it as well if they were really serious about countering cheating.

I don't think so, but you will still know because you won't be able to play rated games.
There is another thread about cheating already,
but It turns out is quite reliable, They use a centipawn system I think.
@ #2: So if they're tagged a cheater they can't play rated games. For how long? Any period of time or is it permanent?
I believe it's permanent, unless their blacklist gets revoked.
